Applications

This grant type is aimed at dementia researchers who will be sharing results of their research at a conference abroad, for instance via a poster or a talk. Alzheimer Nederland uses the following criteria for applications:

• The applicant is a PhD student or a junior postdoc (within the first 2 years after starting their first postdoc position)*
• The applicant will present their research results via a poster, a talk, or another presentation method. If the funding request is approved, the applicant should display the Alzheimer Nederland logo on their poster or in their presentation.
  • The results should not have been presented at earlier conferences.
  • If the applicant is not presenting results, they are not eligible.
• The applicant is only allowed to apply for this grant once per year.

* If the applicant has taken maternity leave after starting their first postdoc position, the 2 year time period is extended by 1 year for every maternity leave taken. If the applicant has taken paternity leave or leave due to long-term illness, the 2 year time period is extended by the period of the leave taken.

Next to personal details, we will request the following in the application form:

• Applicant’s CV
• Abstract(s) of the contribution(s) to the conference
• Confirmation of approval of the abstract(s) by the conference organisation

Budget

The grant only covers hotel/accommodation costs and travel expenses (economy class while flying, second or standard class in trains and other forms of public transport). The maximum amount that Alzheimer Nederland will cover depends on the location of the conference:

• €500 within Europe
• €750 outside of Europe

Please note that the height of the committed amount can dependent on the number of applications for the same conference. Conferences within the Netherlands are not eligible for this grant.
